Online & In-Person Music Meetups

If you’re a zone-out-in-your-own-musical-world kind of person, that’s great! But if you encounter obstacles in your musical world, or your world could just use more people to liven things up, we highly recommend connecting with other creatives. Please find a few ideas below.

.

  • There are Ableton User Groups in many cities worldwide, free and open to anyone who uses Live. You can set up your own group if there isn’t one in your area. Emily from Equalize runs the Sheffield Ableton User Group hosting bi-monthly meetups: more info on Facebook Group or on Meetup.com.
  • The Yorkshire Sound Women’s Network has a number of affiliated groups in Yorkshire and further afield, and they can also support you in setting up your own group. These meetups are open to all women and non-binary, agender and gender variant people.
  • A daily Zoom meetup between 9:30 – 10:30 for anyone involved in arts, culture and creativity who would welcome the opportunity to talk to others about dealing with the Covid-19 situation.
  • If you’re keen to perform but not ready to play on a big stage, find your local open mic night. They are friendly places to get some performance experience and feedback. During lockdown, record yourself at home and post online – for example on the Virtual Open Mic Sheffield Facebook group.
